Review highlights for Northern Souls- published Oct. 2017:

Mr Parsons seems to have travelled from one genre to the other without any apparent detrimental side effects. I had enjoyed ‘Minerva Century’ so I was looking forward to seeing how Mr Parsons would fare in the world of horror. As is usual with his writing style he dives straight in at the deep end, but before he pushes you in first.

. Eric and his friends do battle with the unholy fiends all over the north east of England, which, I must say, turns out to be a very apt setting for this kind of scenario. Without giving away too much of this enjoyable yarn Eric makes a pact with a group of demons in return for saving the soul of Grace. He is given supernatural powers which his character struggles to deal with. The carnage does not stop

No one could accuse him of not fleshing out his characters.

This will help send a chill up your spine over the winter, if the weather doesn’t, and would make a good, late stocking filler for the New Year for any horror fan especially those not familiar with the north east of England, or for those who actually live there and wish to see its potential darker side.

Reviews for Minerva Century (2016)-

At first glance this could be considered old school space opera science fiction; it is anything but.

the ideas behind Minerva Century are as frighteningly modern and real as cyborgs themselves.

Review -Schlock! Webzine Vol. 10, Issue 4 (Kindle Locations 1231-1232). Schlock! Publications. Kindle Edition.

"Minerva Century" is in many ways a love letter to machine-human hybrids throughout sci-fi history. It's a complex action series, with a tone that reminds me of "Aliens" and "Pacific Rim." Heroes are in sync with technology and they use it in cool ways to fight bad things. It's sci-fi action in book form, and it's a very fun ride to get on.

The love James Parsons has for this genre of story shines through, in a powerful, cathartic way. The book concludes with one excellent dialogue scene, like an 80s action flick right before the credits roll. Give this one a shot - review by Joe Crowe, Amazon.com/uk

About Orbital Kin:

i really enjoyed this book, although i hadn't heard of the author before. The story was gripping and i tore through it in just a couple of days. i will definitely look for more from this guy in the future.

Amazon book review

Orbital Kin was such a Rollercoaster of a read for me. One minute I loved it and the next I wanted it to end! It is Science Fiction in the true, original sense of the term and I'd recommend it to any fans of the genre.
